Course Description
This course is designed to provide
students with an overview of e-commerce computing and an analysis of the
architectures, technologies, practices, and trends of e-commerce systems from
both technical and managerial perspectives.
Multiple instructional methods will be used in this class. As the primary
method, lectures will be given to cover major e-commerce subjects as listed in
the weekly schedule below. To gain students a practical understanding of the
subjects through a proof-of-concept approach, in-class, live demos of the
development and use of real-world e-commerce systems will be an active component
of class sessions whenever needed. Throughout the class, students will also be
asked to collaboratively participate in presentations and discussions on
research opportunities for various e-commerce subjects.
In this class, each student is required to create an on-line shopping cart, an
API-based payment processing module, and an XML Web service application using
ASP.net.
