There are no required lecture sessions for this class. All instructional materials are self-paced, computer-based learning materials. There are no lecture sessions for this class. Students must prepare for the exams using the SAM application software. This software provides training, projects, and videos that students work through at their own pace to become proficient with the five topics that will be tested.  Here is a quick overview to explain how this course will work:

  • The course consists for three areas: exam days, study days, and projects. You can use the computer equipment in the classroom or any other computer with Internet access to prepare for the exams and complete your projects.
  • Students must prepare for the exams and complete their projects using the SAM application software. This software provides training, projects, and videos that students work through at their own pace to become proficient with the five areas that will be tested, namely Microsoft Windows 10, Microsoft Word 2016, Microsoft PowerPoint 2016, Microsoft Excel 2016, and Microsoft Access 2016.
  • Exams are scheduled on selected days as listed in the schedule at the end of this syllabus. Each topic will be tested on an exam day: the 1st exam will test Windows 10, the 2nd exam will test Microsoft Word 2016, the 3rd exam will test Microsoft PowerPoint, the 4th exam will test Microsoft Excel, and the 5th exam will test Microsoft Access.
  • Three Attempts Policy: To receive credit for the course, you must pass ALL five exams with a minimum score of 70% on each exam exam and pass all four of the assigned projects with a score of 70% or greater on each project. (For example, if you score 100% on four exams and 69% on one exam or 100% on three projects and 69% on one project, you will not receive credit for the course; however, if you score 70% or higher on each of the five exams and four projects, you will receive the credit.)
  • Unless you have a legitimate reason with written proof, you can’t skip either the first or the second try. If you skip the first try without a legitimate reason with written proof, you will only have the second try and the third try; if you skip the first and second try without a legitimate reason with written proof, you will only have the third (the final try).
  • Exams are given in the classroom only. Please be noted that the followings are NOT allowed during the exams:
